Off Shore Boat Racing comes to St.Petersburg

The event was well run and enjoyable, track lay out and design was such that the view was actually as good for the people on the shore and pier as it was for the many boaters parked along the edge of the course. The weather was warm with some cloud cover and the bay had 3 to 4 foot chop. Great water conditions for off shore racing.
We took in the first half of the race from the water in a boat anchored just off the number two turn. The only thing between us and those beautiful boats was a few hundred feet of water. We watched the last half of the race from the pier and the view was just as good. The crowd was friendly and the staff and venders at the pier were professional and courteous. This was truly a must attend family event, whether you arrive by car boat or foot.
This was a well run event and we would recommend it to any one who has an interest in boats or racing. The St. Pete pier is very boater friendly and easily accessible on two sides. The boat slips are free but it is dock at your own risk. Parking by car is easy enough and there is tram service to and from parking to the pier.
